PegCity Contra is a group of lively individuals in Winnipeg who share a passion for contra dancing and community. We connect and balance through music and movement, and a caller shows us the steps. Come step out of your comfort zone and into the world of contra dance with us!
Whether you’re experienced or beginner, young or old, queer or straight, single or coupled, all are welcome to join us for fun, energetic evenings filled with live music and lively dancing. Children are also welcome.

Contra involves no fancy footwork or body movements, just walking in patterns. A caller teaches every dance.

PegCity Contra meets once per month. We dance outdoors when the weather is good at a variety of beautiful parks and green spaces, and indoors at Clifton Community Club 1315 Strathcona when its cold.
Admission is by donation. All money donated goes back into the group to pay for stuff that makes our group more fun and more easy, as well as paying musicians for live music events.
